Egypt Slams Israeli Settler Attacks in West Bank, Urges Global Action to Protect Palestinians

Egypt has vehemently condemned the **recurrent attacks by Israeli settlers** against innocent Palestinians in the **West Bank**, labeling them as **blatant violations of international law** and the Geneva Conventions, which undermine regional security and stability.

In an official statement, the **Egyptian Foreign Ministry** urged the international community to act against these injustices and hold the perpetrators accountable. It emphasized the urgent need to protect Palestinian civilians, particularly after the recent killing and injuring of residents in **Kafr Malik**.

The statement reaffirmed that **all Israeli settlements in the occupied territories are illegal** and represent a major obstacle to achieving a just solution. Egypt reiterated its unwavering **support for a Palestinian state** based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with **East Jerusalem as its capital**.

Egypt noted that violence by settlers has escalated following the election of Israel’s right-wing government in 2022 and intensified after the **October 7, 2023 Hamas attack**. United Nations data shows **1,860 settler-related incidents** between October 2023 and December 2024—an average of four per day—concentrated in **Nablus (411)**, **Ramallah (410)**, and **Hebron (362)**.

Incidents included shooting, house and vehicle arson, olive tree destruction, and livestock theft, resulting in the forced displacement of hundreds—especially from 20 residential communities since October 2023. The **Palestinian National Office for the Defense of the Land** documented over **5,350 violations** over the past decade.

Israel’s human rights group **B’Tselem** noted that some of these attacks receive **state backing**, as settlers are reportedly armed or incorporated into security units, blurring lines between official and unofficial violence.
