Yair Lapid Slams Strike on Syrian Presidential Palace, Calls It 'Reckless

Israeli opposition leader **Yair Lapid** has condemned the recent airstrike on **Syria's Presidential Palace in Damascus**, describing it as a **"reckless move"** that fails to serve Israel's strategic goals.

In an interview broadcast on Israel’s **Channel 2**, Lapid emphasized the importance of **protecting the Druze community in Syria**, but stressed that **targeting sovereign institutions like the presidential palace is unjustifiable**.

He also voiced his opposition to **toppling the Syrian regime**, arguing that **a stable Syria is in Israel's best interest**.

The **Israeli military** had confirmed launching airstrikes on **the Syrian General Command headquarters** and targets near the **Presidential Palace in Damascus** on Wednesday.

He asserted that **Israel's goal is to divide the Syrian people and undermine their ability to rebuild** the nation following years of conflict.

The address comes amid **ongoing violent clashes in the southern province of Suwayda**, involving **Druze residents and Bedouin tribes**, prompting the Syrian Ministry of Defense to **deploy reinforcements** to restore order and support local security forces.
