An informed source from Iran's Fars News Agency stated that US President Donald Trump's statement regarding a ceasefire proposal between Iran and Israel is "incorrect."

He indicated that the goal is to "cover up the humiliation America suffered following the attacks on its bases in the region." The source added that Iran has not received any official proposal for a ceasefire, and stressed that Tehran will prove the falsity of this claim on the ground within hours.

These statements came after the US President announced that the two sides, Iran and Israel, had reached a comprehensive agreement on a ceasefire. However, an official familiar with the negotiations explained to Reuters early Tuesday morning that Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani had helped secure Tehran's approval of the US initiative following a phone call following the Iranian attacks on a US base in the Al Udeid area of Qatar on Monday evening.

The official added that the call took place after prior coordination between the US President and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, with Trump informing Doha of Israel's agreement to the ceasefire and requesting efforts to persuade Tehran to agree.

These events witnessed a different escalation after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Monday evening that it had carried out a missile attack, which it described as "destructive and powerful," against the US Al-Udeid base in Qatar, as part of an operation codenamed "Bisharat al-Fatah." The attack came in response to raids carried out by the US military early Sunday morning that targeted three nuclear sites inside Iran. The US President stated at the time that "the three Iranian sites were completely destroyed."

It is worth noting that the recent US raids came in support of an Israeli campaign that began on June 13 against Iranian targets, allegedly to prevent the development of nuclear weapons, a claim Iran categorically denies. In response, Tehran responded with a series of retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli sites, leading to the escalation of military tensions between the two sides for the eleventh consecutive day.

For his part, US President Donald Trump described the Iranian attack on Al-Udeid base as a "weak response," claiming that Washington had received advance notice of the attack. He also confirmed that no American or Qatari forces were injured or killed. Trump concluded his remarks by stating that "the time for peace has come."
