**Doha –**
Former Qatari Prime Minister **Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani** issued a stark warning about the future of the Middle East, emphasizing that both **Syria and the Gulf states** are at risk due to the absence of a unified regional strategy.
In a post shared on his official **X (formerly Twitter)** account, Sheikh Hamad wrote:
"As I mentioned earlier, the region is heading toward serious consequences. These include **potential plans to divide countries like Syria**, or impose new geopolitical realities that could burden the region for years."
He warned that **Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)** member states will likely be the **first to suffer**, stressing the need for **a clear, unified vision** to address these developments.
"Although I’ve always believed in the importance of Gulf unity," he continued, "I do not think this union can survive under current conditions unless **the rule of law prevails**, rather than power dynamics, in resolving disputes and interpreting the charter."
Sheikh Hamad underscored that only **a legal framework** can guarantee **true political integration** and protect Gulf nations from foreign interference.
He expressed confidence that the Gulf countries possess the **strength and capacity** to achieve such a union, provided **the political will and sincerity** are present.
"Even if I don’t witness it myself," he added, "future generations will benefit from a strong, active union—if we begin the work today to preserve and strengthen our region."
He concluded:
"Yes, there is power in unity, but that unity must be built on **a solid foundation**, which unfortunately is lacking at the moment. I do not point fingers at any particular party—the responsibility lies **with everyone**."
