Lavrov Thanks North Korean Leader for Support in Liberating Russia’s Kursk Region


In a notable display of growing ties between Moscow and Pyongyang, Russian Foreign Minister **Sergey Lavrov** expressed deep gratitude to North Korean leader **Kim Jong-un** for his country's military support, particularly the role of North Korean soldiers in the **liberation of the Kursk region**.


According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov conveyed Russia’s **“sincere appreciation for North Korea’s continued and principled support for Russia’s special military operation,”** including the participation of **Korean People’s Army troops** in expelling “Ukrainian nationalists and foreign mercenaries” from the region.


The two leaders also conducted a **thorough exchange of views on the situation in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia**, agreeing that the primary source of regional instability is the **increased military activity by the United States and its allies**, particularly their repeated military drills involving **nuclear components**.
