Report: Israel's New Gaza Plan a "Dangerous Shift" That Puts Egypt in an Unprecedented Security Dilemma

Arab media sources have reported growing concern in Cairo over a **"dangerous shift" in Israel’s proposed Gaza strategy**, which, according to Egyptian officials, could thrust Egypt into an **unprecedented diplomatic and security crisis**, and potentially threaten the **Egypt-Israel peace treaty**.

According to informed Egyptian sources, the proposal—currently being discussed in ceasefire talks in Doha—includes maintaining **Israeli military control over 40% of the Gaza Strip**, while **forcibly relocating hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians** near the Egyptian border.

The plan reportedly involves the creation of a so-called **“Humanitarian City”** in southern Gaza, between the **Philadelphi and Morag corridors**, designed to house approximately **600,000 displaced Palestinians** in a controlled, isolated zone under **Israeli military oversight**.

Israel claims the initiative aims to **"separate civilians from armed factions"** through strict security screening and restricted movement, but **Palestinian and international sources** describe it as **a strategy of mass displacement and systematic isolation**.

Concerns are mounting in Egypt that this move could **destabilize the Rafah region** and place immense pressure on the **Sinai Peninsula**, igniting broader regional instability.

The plan also includes **aid distribution points** managed by international actors, excluding the direct oversight of the United Nations—a move critics warn may **undermine humanitarian integrity**.
