Netanyahu Diagnosed with Intestinal Infection After Consuming Spoiled Food
Date: July 2025
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is receiving medical treatment after being diagnosed with an intestinal infection caused by eating spoiled food, according to an official statement from his office.
The condition forced Netanyahu to miss the weekly Israeli cabinet meeting, as reported by Yedioth Ahronoth. The official update explained that Netanyahu "felt unwell overnight and was examined at his residence by Professor Alon Hershko, head of Internal Medicine at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital."
The diagnosis revealed inflammation in his digestive tract due to food poisoning. Netanyahu's condition is currently stable, and he is being treated with intravenous fluids to address dehydration linked to the illness.
Based on doctors’ advice, Netanyahu will stay at home for the next three days, from where he will continue overseeing government operations.
This is not Netanyahu's first recent health scare. In December 2024, he underwent a prostate procedure. His office later confirmed that he was treated for a urinary tract infection caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). He recovered after receiving a course of antibiotics.
